Mark your calendars for "Photographs by Hugh Morton: An Uncommon Retrospective," coming to Alamance Arts October 6 with a special presentation on October 8 at noon, followed by our opening reception that evening from 5:30 - 7:30 pm sponsored by Dick & Millie's Camera Corner, Inc.
This year marks 20 years since Hugh Morton's passing. A Wilmington native, Morton (1921–2006) was a photographer, businessman, tourism advocate, conservationist, and lifelong champion of North Carolina. Morton’s influence extended well beyond photography. He inherited Grandfather Mountain in 1952 and developed it into one of North Carolina’s best-known travel destinations while also working to protect its natural environment.

The exhibit was curated by Stephen Fletcher from UNC and first debuted in 2013.
